Book Review: Norrit and Hale, Private Eyes by R.S. Kellogg

This is installment two of a series but don't let that stop you. It can be read as a stand-alone with nothing lost. The characters are so darn likeable and loveable that it takes nothing away from the stories. I will now though go back and read the first one just to hear more about their escapades!

The book evolves around two patron saints of grandparents, Norrit and Hale. They are best buddies and need a vacation so rent a cabin out in the middle of nowhere. Nothing is on the agenda but relaxing.  But a precocious little 12 year old boy named Fariin learns of them in the area. He approaches them to be his assistants as he is a detective and solves mysteries in the area. They can hardly say no, plus it will prevent them from chancing of being bored!

What follows are several stories each with a mystery that all must put their heads together and work on.  It reads so well, cute, entertaining and interesting but in a low stress way!    It is pretty apparent this writer is a master story-teller.

All the characters quite likeable including the cat named Fish! It is a nice breather from the chaotic world we live in.  This is a feel-good book with a calm underlying voice that underscores the simplicity of life and mysteries that will not leave you with nightmares or unresolved lose ends!

Note: Publication Date is listed as 12/1/2026
